Imua Center is a nonprofit mental health practice based in Miami‑Dade County, committed to providing culturally informed, evidence-based psychological care for individuals, children, teens, families, and diverse communities. Guided by the Hawaiian principle of Imua—to move forward with strength, courage, and purpose, we foster a compassionate and growth-focused environment that supports healing and resilience.
As a training site, we are proud to offer opportunities for students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows at various stages of their professional development. Our dedicated team of experienced clinicians and trainees work collaboratively to deliver services such as therapy, assessments, coaching, and expressive modalities, ensuring a holistic approach to care. Inclusivity, respect, and empowerment are at the heart of our practice, and we are committed to supporting both our clients and our trainees as they grow and thrive.
Imua Center is more than just a psychological services group practice; we are a community dedicated to providing compassionate care and mental health services. Guided by respect, cultural appreciation, and a commitment to progress, we empower our clients on their journey to mental wellness while fostering a supportive environment for our team. Through collaboration and innovation, we offer psychological support and therapy, moving forward together.
We take a holistic approach to therapy, considering the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social factors that can impact mental health. Our goal is to help our clients develop the skills and resilience they need to navigate life's challenges.
Our team has specialized training in a variety of areas, including LGBTQ+ issues, cultural competency, infant mental health, autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and trauma-informed care. We are committed to providing inclusive and affirming care to all of our clients.

A: Infant mental health focuses on the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children from birth to age five. At Imua Center, our psychologists may collaborate with psychiatrists or primary care providers for comprehensive care.
A: Psychologists hold a doctoral degree and are trained in assessment, diagnosis, and therapy, including psychological testing. A: We understand that life can get in the way of scheduled appointments, and we value open communication. Our clinicians are trusted resources to the community, and their time is scheduled thoughtfully to best serve clients. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee.
A: Psychological testing provides a deeper understanding of learning, emotional, or cognitive strengths and challenges. It can identify ADHD, learning differences, mood disorders, and more. If you or your child are struggling at school, work, or home, testing may provide clarity and direction.
A: Currently, Imua Center accepts Cigna, United Health, Humana, and self-pay clients. We will soon be expanding to accept additional insurances, so feel free to inquire.
