Moving Forward Together: The Team Behind Your Journey

The People Behind the Healing at our facility include a dedicated clinical director and a compassionate psychology team that provides essential mental health support.

Samantha Kalilikane, Psy.D.

Clinical Director 

Dr. Samantha Kalilikane is a licensed clinical psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Hawai‘i School of Professional Psychology. She brings over two decades of experience in mental health, education, and psychological assessment across diverse populations. Dr. Kalilikane has worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults, and families in clinical, educational, and community settings. Her areas of expertise include psychological and neuropsychological assessment, trauma-informed care, infant mental health, suicide prevention, and culturally responsive intervention.  Dr. Kalilikane has served in leadership roles supervising doctoral interns, practicum students, and post-doctoral residents, and has facilitated didactic seminars on topics such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, attachment, and narrative therapy. In addition to clinical work, she is a certified ASIST trainer and has collaborated with military, law enforcement, and community organizations to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Sean-Michael Suarez, Psy.D.

Director of Education & Training, Postdoctoral Resident

Dr. Sean-Michael Suarez is a dedicated post-doctoral resident who brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to his work at Imua Center. With a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a specialization in Health Psychology, Dr. Suarez has worked extensively with individuals, couples, families, and youth from diverse cultural and clinical backgrounds. He is especially passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ community, enhancing athletic performance through sports psychology, and providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

Dr. Suarez’s approach is integrative and strength-based, drawing from a wide range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, DBT, ACT, family systems, play therapy, and expressive arts modalities. His background as a professional athlete and educator enhances his work with children, adolescents, and high-performing individuals. At Imua Center, he combines psychological insight with the spirit of Imua—encouraging every client to move forward with courage, purpose, and resilience.

As a Post Doctoral Resident, my role involves collaborating closely with the clinical director to enhance our mental health support services. This experience allows you to work alongside a dedicated psychologist team, ensuring that we provide the best care possible.

Mental Health Intern

Position Vacant

As a graduate-level intern working toward licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), this team member provides compassionate, client-centered care under clinical supervision. They integrate evidence-based practices with cultural sensitivity, supporting individuals, couples, and families through a range of mental health challenges. With a commitment to growth and service, they bring fresh perspective, empathy, and dedication to the Imua Center community.

Office Manager

Position Vacant

As the heart of our day-to-day operations, the Office Manager ensures that Imua Center runs smoothly and efficiently. With a welcoming presence and strong organizational skills, they coordinate scheduling, support client and clinician needs, and help create a warm, culturally respectful environment. Their work keeps our team connected—and our clients supported—every step of the way.
